You do not need an exact set of measurements to start a project — a photo and a few reference points are usually enough to begin review. If you do want to measure ahead of time, here is what is useful.
Overall wall size
Approximate width and height of the wall area the sign will occupy, including any natural boundaries such as trim, corners or a change in wall material.
Viewing distance
How far away visitors typically are when they first see the wall — from a front door, a seating area or a check-in desk. This affects how the sign is scaled, more than the wall size alone.
Obstructions and fixtures
Note anything on or near the wall — outlets, existing signage, light fixtures, HVAC vents — that the sign needs to be placed around.
Lighting
Where the main light source comes from (windows, overhead fixtures, accent lighting) helps when reviewing finish options.
Easiest starting point
A phone photo of the wall, taken straight-on if possible with something of known size nearby (a door, a chair), gives us enough to begin the project review alongside your artwork.
